Signature Errors

These are very rare errors and there are very few of this type authenticated being AU or Unc, with full original embossing, with no evidence of tampering.  This type of error can only happen of 1954 or earlier notes, for most of these the signature was applied in a separate process.  Have a look at the 1937 to the right, errors like this are extremely rare with this example being the only known example for this series.

Here are two consecutive examples of offset signature errors.  This would happen when a sheet was not present when the ink (signatures) was applied.  Like the offset printing errors  the ink would be mistakenly applied to the mat instead of the missing sheet.  Then when the next sheet was processed, it would pick up the ink on the back side making the signatures mirrored (in reverse).  The two consecutive shown here meant that this occurred twice in a row.

These notes show misplaced signatures.  The $1 is just a the sheet shifted to the right when the signatures were applied, but the $5 note had the sheet flipped, much rarer.
